Howdy all. This is a recent shot of mine. I have mixed feelings about it, critique is welcome.

Hi Dan,
Conversion looks good. Nicely detailed.
Problem is that it is very busy with a number of distracting elements.
I dont think the rocks on the right add anything.
Extraneous shadow lower left in the water doesnt add either.
I think the image is about the stream, trees and sky, each which do have interest to them.
Any shots from another angle?

Scott

I agree also that the shot is too busy. This is again another image in which photogs get too caught up in the reflection. I think if you crop out the lake totally, just barely above the top most portion of the lake, and then crop just to the right of the 3rd tree, that is more pleasing.

there is busy and there is busy. some can be very nice. but I agree that the rocks and shadow add little.
on the other hand, I love the composition. that is super.

Thanks for the input. Here is another angle, the bw conversion was done quick and not final.

My first reaction, "oh wow". I think I like the busy right side more than the little bit of vacant left. Wait I just did a little hand cropping. Take away the left side vacancy and the right side is too much. I'm thinking the busy right side sort of pushes me deeper into the picture. I suppose that is why it works so well for me.
