Lovely series michael- like the hovers but the bubble blowing fly takes the prize for me.
Think the last shot is a scuttle fly (Phoridae) - pretty small and run around at fairly high speed. Reminds me of a hyaena

Great series!! specially the lighting.

What's with #6? It seems like the fly is floating without any shadow. I'm guessing the flash was parallel to the plane of the leaf so it barely cast any shadow.

Thanks,it is a strange effect, I have not taken any that have come out like this before,your explanation makes good sense

hmm. think maybe it's the contrapositive....there is no such thing as a pretty fly, just that some aren't quite as ugly
