p.1 #1 · tiny spiders

Even the flies seemed scarce today. I did manage to shoot 2 different spiders. One is a jumper and the other, um, not sure I am not having a lot of luck ID'ing him.

Both spiders VERY small and, interestingly enough, both spiders shot within 2 feet of each other on my vinyl siding. Hopefully because they are so small, not the greatest pics I have ever posted but the first spider is new to me so maybe interesting enough to post.

thanks for looking, folks.

This little guy was trying to climb the siding but the morning dew made it a treacherous task. the black head is interesting:

taking another shot at the climb (different white balance, not happy with either)

. . . and the jumper (also very very small)

Very nice shots!! The spider in the first two images is a money spider isn't it? The jumper reminds me of Elton John for some reason, maybe the haircut and the large sunnies.

Thanks.

Based on the one page I looked at it does look like a money spider. If so, I will play the lottery tomorrow.

I am not good at precise measurements. small. like, maybe if it spread it's legs out and lay flat it would be about the circumferences of a thumbtack. maybe a bit smaller.

Nicely done Tim! I really like the angle on the first shot. It shows so much detail and the lighting is very good, esp. with the light background.

Money spiders are a subgroup of the Linyphiidae with few abdominal markings. The males are recognisable by specific shapes of the head around the eyes and the arrangment of the eyes. Yours is a female and the chances of recognition from a photograph is poor, unless a specialist takes a look.

Well done Tim

I think the second frame might look better if you turned it to the left.
