p.1 #1 · DPP Curves

I am looking for a good tutorial on using DPP curves.

I have been playing around w/ them but i know there are people out there w/ a better understanding than may have put these thoughts on the web somewhere.

also i know DPP is a processing tool, but it is canon specific so that is why i posted in the canon forums.

Thanks!

I use the adjustment layers in CS3. Create a curve adjustment layer in CS3 and move the mouse over the area that needs a contrast adjustment....u can see the area of the curve that pertains to that area of the image. Then set some fixed points and adjust....
maybe try this: http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Photoshop/10.0/help.html?content=WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-766f.html

The DPP curve function affects the image after conversion from the raw date (using the Picture Style curves.)

There were some issues in early versions of DPP I believe, related to the 8-bit/16-bit operations; something about not being done 16 bit and thus getting some combing. I believe Outback photo did an entry on this.

If you want to actually change the conversion from the raw data, use the Picture Style Editor to make custom curves.

Wow, that's terrible news! I didn't realize that. Is that the difference between the two pallets in DPP? The RAW pallet tools are before the conversion, and the RGB pallet is after the conversion? Say it ain't so....
