Man is this a Nikon forum, every seems to absolutely be hating the new 50D. Every single complaint under the sun has been mentioned, undeservedly I might add. When the D300 and 40D squared off everyone said:

The 40D doesn't have a high res LCD - 50D has one

The 40D doesn't have as good of resolution - 50D has class leading resolution

The 40D wasn't as good at High ISOs - The 50D will be cleaner than the 5D(according RG)

The 40D didn't have live view AF - The 50D does

The 40D didn't have as good of Highlight Tone Priority - 50D now has a better HTP than D300 D Light

The 40D only had one level of NR - 50D has four levels of NR

The 40D didn't have microadjustment - 50D has microadjustment

The 40D didn't have HTMI(who cares) - 50D has HTMI outlet

Now the two things that people were hoping for that the 50D didn't have was Pro AF and better flash control i.e. CLS. The 40D according to almost all reviews has a faster AF, but does not track as well as the Nikon. Canon didn't choose the cheap way compared to Nikon, they simply chose a different approach.

As someone else mentioned here people want a 1Ds Mark III for the price of a 40D or atleast a 5D, IT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN, DREAM ON.

If you don't like Canon, buy a Nikon. If you don't like Nikon buy Sony, Pentax, Olympus, or Sigma.

Just because Canon doesn't have every new-fangled wing ding gadget doesn't mean they are supplying inferior products.

If Canon had to have every whistle and bell the 5D wouldn't be one of the top "PRO" SLRs on the market. The fact is IQ is still MOST IMPORTANT and whether you all want to believe this or not Canon leads the market in IQ. If IQ isn't your top priority go somewhere else.

People talk about how they hate rumor threads, well I CAN'T STAND whiner threads, so I am going to go back to the other forums where I belong.

I am going to keep my 1D Mark III, but come this Oct. I will be getting a 50D as a back up. I think Canon made a major leap forward in technology. I am betting the 5D Mark II or whatever will be as well. You all can get one of those, I don't need one. My Mark III and soon 50D will last me till they break.

well the problem is half the people here are either sad pixel peepers who will never always blame their 35L for being soft when in reality its them who are at fault, user error.

Most people will not be happy, regardless of what Canon comes out with. Even if it is all their hopes and dreams, they will still find a way to complain.

Its the difference between photographers and gearheads.

I won't lie I am a bit of a gear head. Still me and My Mark III bonded tonight ...with a beautiful model. It was so sweet, shot the last two hours of the sun setting until dark. It was so great to see how the changing light affected the mood of the photos. Not all can sit home and whine about how crappy a new camera is.

I could argree with everything else you've said. The 50D is an amazing and even unexpected release with resolution, high ISO sensitivity and many features to convince me that Canon do 'get it'.

The 50D has no interest to me except for macro resolution - for that very fact, the 50D will be VERY popular. And I'm expecting the 1D III to see a revision in the very near future...

The new 50D appears to be the hell of a camera, especially for the price. Still you will find a lot of people to complain about its specs. Kind of lame, as most of them will never be good enough photographers to reach the limits of the 50D ever in their life (or even probably the 10D while I am at it). It always makes me laugh when you read a user complaining about the IQ of his camera, and then you click on a link to his website and all his pictures are crap

Disclaimer : I will be getting a 50D, I am not good enough to have reached the limits of my 20D but I am a camera freak. But then I am not complaining

You could give these guys a $1200 camera with the resolution and IQ of the Hassey H3DII-50, twice the speed of the Canon 1DII, autofocus speed and accuracy that hasn't yet been developed...

...and they'd bitch about the weight... or the lens color... or that the files take too long to process... or that it doesn't float... or something else.

The bottom line is that some people are never going to be happy with anything.

Well.... I'm old and don't buy into hype very easily. My 40D was a pretty big improvement over my 30D, and I'd buy the 50D today if I could! I've been holding out on a 5D waiting for it's replacement -- judging by the 50D, it should be very, very interesting.

…and Canon actually has lenses.

yep give the thing a chance.
Loads of 450/xsi haters mainly because it used SD cards and was a rebel when it was announced but now there lots of people on here that rave about it

Although I generally agree with your post but hate is such a strong word for this. Instead of "haters", "whinners" would probably be more applicable....

I agree with your post. There are so many prissy little people on this forum that just bitch and moan about these cameras that it's getting REALLY old, REALLY fast. I don't think half these people even know how to take a good picture. They have an assumption that the camera is not good enough for them, yet the Canon 1DsIII is somehow way overpriced --- and it isn't good enough either. Maybe they just need to sell their car, house, and all posessions, then buy a hasselblad digital. I have a feeling that would not be good enough for these special people either. "Like, OMG, the Hassy doesn't shoot at 6FPS? I'm, like totally going to call my BFF about this."

Better yet, maybe they should start their own camera company. Soon, Canons and Nikons will meet their real competitors --- The UncleBob D-Infinity with a stunning Infinity megapixels, Infinity focus points, and a special cat face finder mode. It also has hover mode so it will fly into the air and shoot photos for you! That's right, the UncleBob D-Infinity will take those precious cat photos while you're chugging down a Mr. Pibb and a bag of cheetos.
