p.1 #1 · Abstract Wedding, Rap & Images

<to the beat of The Fresh Prince theme song>

*starts rapping*

Now this is the story all about how
My gig got flipped, turned upside down
And I'd like to take a minute just sit right there
and recline your photog-ass in that high-back chair

(Dooooo....doot doo doot doo....)

Innnnnn Toronto, Ontario, born and raised,
in the studio was where I spent most of my days,
Playin' Minesweeper, thinkin' cameras s'all cool,
Never thought I'd shoot a wedding where the highlight was tha pool?
Well a couple of brides, they thought up somethin' "good"
"Have a wedding in our backyard, we should!"
It gave me a little fright, (wouldn't you be scared)
I said " to shoot this wedding well I gotta get my self prepared"

I begged and pleaded with the bride that day
But she said "backyard only, that's the way it'll stay"
She signed on the line, and she paid the deposit
I put my camera on, grabbed my AB's from the closet

I whistled for my girlfriend, and when she came by
I said "today's weddings' setting make this dude wanna cry"
If anything I could say that this shoot was rare
But I thought "naw, forget it, let's complain once we're there!"

I pulled up to a house and the morning was a steamer,
Could tell the address right, because the front was laced with streamers
Looked at my "chapel", I was finally there
To shoot a small wedding, a backyard affair

(dooooo...doot doo doot dooo....)

So...yeah. Wedding last weekend was in a backyard, a very small affair, maybe 12 guests...actually, it was very nicely decorated, very pretty indeed, but it presented many challenges. It was difficult to get 'creative', as very few angles left a background without suburbia in it...it was fairly small, so having a range of shots was tricky to get..and it occurred about 2:30-3:30pm, so the sun was really intense. The formals were just the b/g, shot at a local park, so that was interesting...I did some very abstract things for them, since they are all about 'artistic' works for the day...Still processing from the ceremony onwards...anyways, enjoy.

Someone on here once said "..no bride wants a picture of their shoes, anyways!" - My bride requested many..! This is one of a ton, but I'll spare you the series...

I love everything about this - the desat, the slant, the abstractness of them just looking nowhere, being almost out of frame...I'm sure most will not.

Reminds me of a Magritte composition (will PS out those weeds on the shore in the final, though...)

Well, that was a first.

Nice shots. Backyard weddings are interesting. But I just can't get past the fact that you busted out with a rap.

"She signed on the line, and she paid the deposit

Crazy.

JEA JEA...dipset! haha, awesome, is all your off cam stuff done with AB's? I love mine with the big octobox, but my OneLight set-up is sooo much more convenient. You've got way too many good ones to comment on. I like the ring shot by the pool a lot.

Loved the rap!

The photos are all great, with the exception of:

#5. Grain is a killer.

#20. The crop is akward... more like something you'd see after the couple was divorced and the bride went and ripped her dude out of the picture.

Other than that, thought the comps were great, colors were awesome.

Awesome shots, Jeremy. Also, I love the rap. At the risk of ridicule, here is my response....

To the tune of "Ice Ice Baby"

(Din Din Din duh duh Din Din)
(Din Din Din duh duh Din Din)

Alright stop, sit at the computer and login
Jeremy is back with a brand new collection

Some shots are cropped in so very, very tightly
His post production shows colors very brightly

Will he ever stop, yo, I don’t know
Lightroom takes time off his total workflow

To the extreme he rocks a wedding like a vandal
Lights up a strobe and waxes Uncle Bob like a candle

He can use a prime, He can use a zoom,
Available light doesn’t scare him in a dark room

Deadly when he pulls out his 5D
If he needs more speed he will pull out his Mark III

Nailing exposure with no compensation
His albums give brides a sense of elation

If he makes a shot, yo it’s in focus
Check out his site, and see the smooth bokeh

His shots are tight, tight baby
His shots are tight, tight baby
His shots are tight, tight baby
His shots are tight, tight baby

Yo man, let’s get outta here
Word to the Photographer....

Thank you very much for the compliments, still trying to get a more consistent process going. I personally LOVE the #20 crop - it's so bizarre, so different...it looks like an advert for Pushing Daisies or something, lol..but to each their own!

Y'all are insane.

20 is AMAZING and will be imitated.

I'm not a fan of your favorite... mainly because I can't get past the couple looking into the edge of the image. It gives my OCD nightmares!
