Cool - I like it. Great contrast in shapes; the B&W keeps it clean.

Wow, that is sweeeet. Very difficult to offer any critique here. The image is crisp, the composition is wonderful and the visual impact is substatial. Exceptional.

I'd normally consider an image like number two to be too centered. However, with the strong vertical and horizontal lines I feel it works with a Mondrian style composition.

Thanks Auntipode. To be perfectly frank I seldom pay attention to the rule of 3rds.
As some of my old photography teacher(s) used to say "the only rule of photography
is that there are no rules". That means that I am a self-described emotional photog.

Btw, that's me right in the middle.

Love the first three, with the first image my fav. Crisp, engaging, vertiginous.Great variety of geometries.
Second works especially well because of the figure apparently suspended in the middle. What's going on there? Keeps me coming back.

These are very nice and you have had a wise mentor. My mentor stressed "there are no secrets to photography, only techniques one has not learned yet"

To me, a good image must say something. It may be beautifully harmonious in proportion or jarringly harsh, but it shouldn't be dull. How do you explain what makes a good image? At best the "rules" are conventions that simplify discussion. They aren't art and they don't make something art. They may help make something interesting pleasing, but following rules won't make something dull interesting.

Auntipode I very much agree with you on the dull images.
