p.1 #1 · setting up 5.1 for macbook pro

I have done some research on my own but need some help...

I found this article that helped me a little bit:

http://guides.macrumors.com/5.1_Surround_output_in_OS_X

I just bought a Creative Sound Blaster X-fi surround 5.1 external sound card expecting to use my speaker system with my macbook pro. The disc for installation only is for Windows. So I found that article and went to the Audio MIDI setup. I selected my device and choose the 5.1 setup. On the speaker configuration each speaker works with the Test, however when I actually play music or anything only two of the five speakers work, and the sub works.

Hopefully someone can help me out here =D

Also the little dial on the sound card to adjust the volume doesnt work =[ I assume I can't get it to work since I need to install the software provided, but I cant. If I can't no worries.

To get 5.1 output, you need to feed the card something containing 5.1 audio—normal stereo audio will play as normal stereo audio.

Depending on what speakers you're using, you don't even need the X-Fi. The MacBook Pro has optical output.

I have the Logitech x530 6 piece set. Will that work without the external sound card? If so what do I need to connect them?

What does this have to do with post processing and printing?
