p.1 #1 · Land Management by Mouth.

I’ve not posted as much as I would like on this forum as I haven’t got the required glass yet. However I was out last weekend trying to shoot dragon and damselflies when I came across these ponies. They are Exmoor ponies brought in to manage the land in a natural way by munching away on the shrubs, trees, heathers and gorse. It was very peaceful, no-one else around and just watching these beautiful animals enjoying life.

The Exmoor Pony breed is one of the endangered pony breeds. Releasing them this way is in hope to ensure the survival of the breed.

Wonderful to see them in their natural habitat. Here's a link telling about how they date back a long time & about archaeological evidence - "Archaeological evidence dating back over 60,000 years bears an uncanny similarity to the Exmoor Pony of today."

The earliest ancestor of the horse started roaming this planet 60 million years ago - how about that.

Thanks Lil, How bizarre I’ve just been reading up on them myself. I only live 40/50mins from Exmoor but these are on a place called Woodbury Common [Bystock estate] near Exmouth where I live, there are 4 and it might be a bit of an experiment to see how they can manage the land without too much human interference.

Many thanks, first 2 shot on the same day the third the day after, as you can see much better light even though it rained later.
