p.1 #1 · colorsync probs fixed...FOR REAL! (bonus pic)

Ok.

So I thought i'd share...which may be a 'duh' to a lot but...

The issues I kept bringing up about my uploaded photos not matching what I saw in Aperture...is a result of using Firefox with my Mac. Awesome. Opening Safari the image appears as it should. I have circumvented this by exporting to PS then coverting the profile to srgb then uploading and it is fairly close then on Firefox. But that is a lot of extra work...booo.

So I ask, how many people use firefox on mac?

I guess I need to start using safari even though i'm a tried and true firefox guy.

Thought i'd share!

Oh yea...

as a bonus

Sure is a big difference between the two browsers. I usually use Firefox for this site, because, for some unknown reason, I can't sign in using Safari.

Cheers,
Paul

I do wonder...why when viewing some photos on firefox they are the same as on safari. And not all. Bah. Haha.

I really dislike how my photos look from from Firefox - the blues are shifted to baby blue hues. Other colors are off just enough that it generally looks like I oversaturated them compared to how them look in Safari or Photoshop. Very frustrating.... but I like many things about Firefox and can't go back to Safari since installing extra extensions (like Grease Monkey).

Sigh.....

I use Safari exclusively with no problems in color, but still, you should always save your web jpegs as either sRGB or Colormatch RGB.

I've had the same troubles. Actually, unfortunately, this forum won't play nice with Safari either, and that's the only reason I found out that my images look quite different in Firefox. Frustrating, isn't it.

Old news but...

"FireFox 3 (Mac and Windows free download)
Note: Color management in FireFox3 is off by default. TO ENABLE COLORMANAGEMENT: type about:config into the address bar. To turn it on, change the value of gfx.color_management.enabled to true and restart the Fire Fox browser. In addition to enabling color management in Firefox, you also should enter the name of the monitor profile - it's next to the enable/disable parameter in the parameters list that you get to by entering about:config in the address field."

I'm using firefox on a mac. If you turn on profiles, that should help things out.

THIS FIXED IT !! YATA !! I can't believe they would 1) have this turned off by default and 2) have such a funky way to editing preferences !! However, after double-clicking it to change it from False to True and then double-clicking the blank entry above that and typing in the exact name of my monitor profile, quitting Firefox 3 and restarting and WOW !!

For the first time EVER the images look identical in Safari and in Firefox !!

Oh man this has already been an amazing day (bought new ASOLO hiking shoes).

Now it's going down as an even better day by far.....

WOW!!!!

Took me a min to find what my monitor profile is (for future reference look in ColorSync Utility --> Devices ---> Displays --> current profile and open (name at top)).

Amazing what colors are supposed to look like on the web now. I do can rest a little happier. Spread the good word everyone!

Not sure what all the hoopla is about here. I must assume that your computer is sending the correct profile to the moniior. How could a browser turn that off? Anyway, I use Safari, and have never had a problem with color.
