If it's not weather sealed and doesn't have an AF system more in line with the 1D's, then I'll be seriously disappointed. Not that Canon gives a flying fcuk what its consumers (or pros) think.

OP is giving the 7D specs
Yes. Something like this would make an 7D/3D aliance possible :-)
Even I would say the 3D will be named 4D. Toghether that would make 11 - doubble 1 :-)
Okay, does not mean anything but it sounds good .
I would like to get the 4D for work, 7D as a back body and a 1Ds MK III for beeing outside after work. It "looks" so professional. And I would like to drive a Porsche, too.
Thank you "Northlight" for giving me hope again. ;-)
I think it is exciting for $1,900 USD. A 15-pt AF with additional center point sensitivity for f/2.8 lenses, at least 1.5 stops better for high ISO than the current 5D, 640x480 LCD, and dust reduction.
At the end of the day, this 5DMkII will rival the IQ of the D3 and D700 with about the same AF capability for at least $1,000 USD less. I'm all for it.
Well, the UK and US economies are in trouble, it would make sense for Canon to bring out an inexpensive FF camera. If $1899 translated to £1000 I would definitely be saving up for this camera. Mind you here in the UK we always get stuffed on camera kit prices. You guys in the US don't know how lucky you are, your kit prices are sooooo cheap.
If I were American I would probably buy 2 of everything, one for the week, the other for sunday best

the same rumour says (and they claim this part is more than rumour) that on August 26th Canon Sweden will unveil new canon eos DSLRS. Note the S at the end. It could be 7D and 3D.
These give a bare bonesish features with astonishing image quality at a lower FF res for a great price then there could be the 3D with all the feature trappings and blow away 16MP per pixel noise or blow away 18-21MP res with still tops per picture noise.
Way too many models for comfort in Canon's world. They're not even willing to put weather sealing on their 5d (mind you, a 3000 dollar body when it came out) because it would eat away at their 1d sales. I can't imagine a 3d or 7d coming out to crowd out the Canon line up. One good 5d mark II is all they need- two similar bodies coming out at the same time will just screw over consumer minds- sort of like a "paradox of choice." Oh and by the way, a price of 1899 would completely obliterate any sales on remaining 5d's.
70-200f4 IS $1100 vs 600 non-IS
70-200f2.8 IS $1700 vs 1100 non-IS vs 1800 Nikon 70-200 VR (Sharper)
16-35f2.8mkII $1500 vs 1600 Nikon 14-24 (Sharper)
200f2IS $6000 vs 4000 Nikon 200/f2 ($2000 for IS)
So new Canon 24-70 will be 1999 at least and soft "
Who told you that Nikon 70-200 VR is sharper than the Canon's ? I have yet to see such a thing happening. The main reason I'm a Canon user is this specific category of lenses ( amongst others ). Especially the Canon 70-200/2,8 non-IS is far better...

I have used 2 copies of the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS and also the Nikon 70-200 VR... and Canon's is noticeably soft at 200mm- so unacceptable that I switched to the f/4L IS instead, which has been amazing. The Nikon 70-200 is sharp at all lengths, if I were still a nikon user, and if I switch back over, that would be a must have. It blows away the 2.8 IS by a lot.
The problem is the propable lack of pro af, lack of weather sealing, lack of spot-metering at all af-points, lack of af-microadjust.. :/ I have no doubts that it will perform superbly at iso 100 in good weather
