p.1 #1 · Here is No 1 for Photokina

http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/cameras/Canon_5d2_3d_7d.html

* 12MP
* 5fps, Up to 21 RAW files
* Dust removing system
* 15-point TTL CMOS sensor
* Center point additionally sensitive with lenses of F2.8 or faster
* 96% frame coverage
* Magnification: 0.71x
* 3.0" 640x480 TFT LCD (920,000 pixels)
* ISO 50-3200 extended to 12800 and 25600
* DIGIC III, 14-bit
* Canon EF lens mount (not EF-S)
* Live View Mode
* The body is very similar to the 5D, similar handgrip
* Surprisingly cheap, US$ 1,899

Think its an D700 answer to crash it. When canon wents back to 12MP after 3 years they have a sensor that blows of evrything existing others. Maybe its at 12800 what Nicon does ad 6400? Still shure they will introduce 16 MP - maybe at 3.000$. Or they will to in spring next year . Anyway it would break Nikons back - no matter about features. It wouöd through them back where they where half a year ago. A horizon line is nice for those who do not watch through their viewfinder. But it does not make IQ better. And what me concerns, I would not pay additional $ 1.500 for it.

$1899 sounds too cheap--for sure
I would bet around $2999, or best case $2599

That part doesn't quite make sense. Why is ISO6400 not listed?

epuja:
I would say yes. It cannot be the 450 sensor. At this price and in an 5d-equal housing.
So I think they will show a new one maybe those low power stuff.

@rsg1_
sorry. ;-)

epuja:
No. If its only 12 MP its okay. That is still less then three year old stuff

Hey its still a rumor. Do you believ swedish? They are Nokia! Right? But they are Saab, too. And sweden does not make the big sales I think (do not really know). But we in gemany do. And here nobody knows anything. Thats the same with apple. But this is an US company ;-).

So the new camera will actually have LESS resolution? 12mp vs 12.8mp for the old one?! Yeah, that'll happen.

The 5D replacement I strongly doubt will have more MP than the 1Ds3. I would expect 16-17 megapixels and hope for 1 series AF.

It will be called "7D" since Nikon has a D700 . I agree with ulrikft as far as the specs and price concerned.

It would surprise me if Canon put a 100% VF and AF-MA in this model. That would mean they are willing to part with the "distiction strategy" between their pro-sumer and pro bodies.

Northlight-Images post up so many different rumors all the time that it's bound to get some specs correct
I thought this was kind of funny, it illustrates how many rumors Northlight-Images posts up. Posted on their site:
"2008 August
Since the page was huge, we've moved items from before 1st June 2008 to an archive page. We've moved very old (before December 2007) stuff to a second archive page"

I do like the price on this latest rumor though. If the price is at $1,899 and it follows a depreciation similar to the 40D, we should see it available for ~$1,300 after a year. I wonder what will happen to EF-S lenses in the future.

Compare 5D to D700, the main difference is AF, plus rain seal and LCD.

I tried both with 24-70/2.8, the 5D AF slow and not accurate, D700 is fast and right on every time. Nikon lens is much sharper

Seal and LCD ie another 2 points, Do you like 40D so called weather seal
D700 has feature as D3, why Canon user can not ask 1d feature on 5D2 at same price:wall

Let me start another rumor. How about a 5D2 (40D with full frame sensor) [$1,899] plus a new 24-70/2.8 IS with the new 5-stop IS [$1,500] bundled as a kit for $3,000?

That should put Canon back on top of Nikon (that's what she said )

New Canon lens price list should be

70-200f4 IS $1100 vs 600 non-IS
70-200f2.8 IS $1700 vs 1100 non-IS vs 1800 Nikon 70-200 VR (Sharper)
16-35f2.8mkII $1500 vs 1600 Nikon 14-24 (Sharper)
200f2IS $6000 vs 4000 Nikon 200/f2 ($2000 for IS)

So new Canon 24-70 will be 1999 at least and soft

why?
it's nothing more than a 40D with larger mirror box and much better sensor. Does the sensor need to cost more than $1000 extra over the 40D sensor? The larger mirror box can't add too much since they had FF film rebels for $200 or something.

as other note it is odd they say 50-3200 then exp 128,256 with no 6400. Also iso 50 seems perhaps a ltitle unusual for such a high iso cam, but who knows, stickign at 12MP...

anwyay it's probably fake.

:-) so what you are talking about? Concerning lenses Canon was always before Nikon. In Price and quality. That was never the question. The quest is, if Canon adds on an successor for best cam ever and still ;-) No 1D MK II could reach 5d in IQ or res. And still no Nikon can beneath Iso 800. They did in ceiling, AF and high Iso. The MKIIIs are a generation further than 5D. Like D3 and D700 should be. Lets wait for the next genation 5D before compete. In IQ it will set new standards and let all behind. In AF? What is wrong with the 40D AF? Or 30D? What was wrong with 5D? Its just accurate. Maybe not in Al focus. I do not need this. A bargain of $ 1900 would mean € 2.000 instead of exchange 1200. Thats where they rip us (germans). But I would spend it for the rumour above. It would be mine.
