Has anyone used this lens?
Can anyone share its pros and cons?
What would be the reasonable price for an excellent copy?

It says it is for contax mount.
Can it be used on 5D with C/Y to EOS adapter?

Still haven't acquired that 180-200 yet Paul ;>

Angenieux lenses aren't something you come across regularly. While I understand they do make some nice optics, resale might be an issue to think about.

Actually, i did get the Leica Apo 180/3.4, but I'm not too crazy about it.
I think i need a little more time to get used to it.
I knew that the lens excels at infinity.
I don't usually shoot at inifinity with a long telephoto lens...

I think it might have been a haste decision...

I was just looking at another option, and I saw the Angenieux 200/2.8 ED for about $800.

I'd like to hear some beter options on 200mm range.

Money no object : Leica 180/2.8 APO or (for 2x the ouch) F2 APO
Heavier, APO, bloody sharp - Mamiya 200/2.8 APO
Darn good for the $$$ but like Telyt a closer ranges - Nikon 180/2.8 ED (no APO)
Good value for $$, but slower, yet APO - Cosina/Voigtlander 180/4 APO
One of Hassy's sharpest lenses and easy stop-down use, but slow and not APO: Hasselblad (Zeiss) CF/i 180/4

Sorry to hear you don't like the 180 Telyt. Ever decide what you're doing re: your 100/2 vs. Leica 100 APO?

I found that C/Y 100/2 and Leica 100 Apo are two different beasts.
For portraits and landscape, I prefer Planar 100/2.

if i could, I'd love to be able to trade the Leica 100 macro with Nikon 14-24 with adapter.

I really enjoyed taking picture with Leica 28/2.8 Rom (wonderful lens!!!), and if Nikon 14-24 can match the quality of Leica 28, I'm willing to let go of my Leica 100 macro.

I do need super wide more than long telephoto.

All is fair in love, war and lens buying ;> It's a NICE piece of kit.
A little front heavy, but @#$% sharp as a tack, great color -- and APO. MFD is 2.5M but am about to get a ext. tube to take care of that. Would make a great 200mm portrait lens or pseudo-macro with a tube(s).

KEH and eBay used to be full of them, now kind of scarce. If I see one floating around, I'll pop an email off to you.

Am looking for a 100 APO as you know, but am also considering a move from my 1Ds2 to D700 later this year so am looking to not buy too much gear that is Canon-fit only. Have played with the 14-24 and 24-70 briefly (on D300) and they are very nice. Also suspect Nikon is going to be releasing more re-cut versions of their popular lenses to make the most of the new sensors. Still up in air, but we shall see.
