p.1 #1 · Dinner Time!

So I was watching this spider sitting on the end of my minnie rose bush with his front legs wide open, and was wondering what he was doing. Well I found out just a little bit later when I walked out and noticed he had captured a huge bumble bee! I wish I had that kind of patience.

I took almost 100 shots and this was one of about 5 keepers. I did do some quick PP in Photoshop and am not sure if I like the square crop or the landscape shot better. I think the rose might be too blown out in the landscape shot, so that's why I squared it up. What do you think?

Photo data: Tripod mounted 30D, Canon 28-135mm IS (fully extened), 68mm of tubes, ISO 1250, AV mode, f/11 @ 1/125th, manual focus, cable release in "H" shooting mode, and WB set to cloudy.

Nice shots and good job with the patience. You might be better to post in macro area.

I like first better. Brokeh is great behind on both.

A smidge more left and below would help on framing on first for my taste. So not so centred and to give the impression of height.

The colors seem muted a bit - I did some work with levels and curves and saturation - I am not sure that it improved.

Scott- Thanks for the comments. I thought about posting in the macro board, but didn't think they were "macro" enough. I like your re-work and agree the first is a little muted. I really didn't want the first to be so centered, but the upper part of the rose was so blown out it kinda took away from the subjects so that's why I squared it up.

And I forgot to mention I was fighting a strong breeze that kept everything moving on me.
