Indeed I consider purchasing one as it is the longest lens (within reasonable cost) which has both OS and HSM. I'd really like to see a 500/5.6 prime with IS and USM.

No you wouldn't! You would not want anything else after seeing a photo from that lens.

Just curious why you posted that photo? Would have been nice if it was taken with one of the lenses this thread is about.. Your stuff on Flickr is good, really good.

I'm guessing because it's taken with the new 120-400 Sigma, which is very similar to the 150-500 (similar spec, and similar optical formula). Not a perfect comparison, but interesting to those of us wondering about the two new Sigmas.

I'm guessing because it's taken with the new 120-400 Sigma, which is very similar to the 150-500 (similar spec, and similar optical formula). Not a perfect comparison, but interesting to those of us wondering about the two new Sigmas.

That would be the 150-500 120-400 comparison thread. If you keep this up you end up comparing everything because after all they are all lenses.

Does either of the lens (50-500mm or 150-500mm) have a push-pull system like the Canon 100-400mm ?

Technically, the Sigmas are twist zoom. However, practically, you can push-pull the front section and it works in that manner. So with the Sigmas you have the option basically

I am impressed maybe if my 400 doesn't work out I may take a closer look at this lens instead of going back to a 100-400
