Does anyone know if us photographers are supposed to be using Super Bright Mode 1 on the Lacie electron 19 blue IV monitors? I do my Lacie Blue Eye calibrations with the Super Bright off and everything seems dull and bleak, whereas when I do it with my Super Bright on, it seems nice and contrasty and 'correct'. Anyone know anything about this?
I wouldn't use the super bright - it is meant for text. What you need to determine is what color temperature you want to set the monitor to. Most people on a PC use 6500K as it compares well for photos viewed under 5000K lighting. I use a LaCie 22" Electron Blue IV as may main monitor on a dualhead Matrox video card, and use the i1 Pro with the monitor profiling package in Profile Maker Pro to both calibrate and profile it.
