Does Gitzo provide a bag with all Gitzo tripods? If so, is it good to use?
I'll be travelling in China for the summer and I'm not sure on whether I should purchase a Gitzo tripod bag like the GE11P. I'm not really sure if such accessories is even worth it. Any comments?
They don't provide a bag, but my preference is something light and unpadded, like the ones from Kinesis. All depends on the protection you think you'll need. Gitzo bags tend to be among the more pricey, and I'd also prefer something without the big logo on the side.
have a look at ThinkTank. Their Bazooka or big Bazooka is a very nice tripod bag. I'm using the big Bazooka for my 3540LS with Markins M20 and between the tripod legs I put my 5540 Monopod upside down.
To be honest, I don't really want to get another bag since I'll be carrying my suitcase and a backpack. Another bag will just be a hassle, but then again, I'm not so sure what other way there are to carry a tripod around.
The straps can hang from the tripod when it's in use. I use a Benro bag for storing and transporting my Gitzo, but when I am actually in the field I would use my Gitzo strap. They are both useful. Necessary - no, but useful - yes.

This is what I do, works great.
I also just strap it to my backpack without a bag too.
