Terry D Offline Image Upload: On p.1 #1 · YuK!! I was trying to get some shots of small birds today with my new 500 plus TC-301 to see how it does at a more conservative ISO... I didn't get too many opps at birds in the trees, however, they just weren't co-operating much. But I did manage to get this one of a Robin, which I ordinarily wouldn't shoot. Except it was about 70 feet off and backlighted so I couldn't see what it had in it's mouth until I finally looked through the lens... Oh my... yuk!... gag!! At least 3 squirming worms in it's beak. How would you like that stuffed down your throat The background on the robin looks a bit noisy, had to say that even though I get the feeling this was more for fun. The Tc 301 is strictly a manual focus setup. I have soooo little luck with AF I rarely choose it, especially in forested settings where many of my photos are taken... the limbs and leaves confuse the crap out of the AF and by the time it settles down, many of the potential shots are four trees away Terry May 14, 2008 at 03:45 PM

I'm not THAT far off on the exposure most of the time and I keep seeing that mottled, noise-like pattern in these shots and it displeases me a great deal. I may have a decision to make ... Lou Funny you should ask about the color, because I was just going to post that this is a partial ALBINO adult male Robin. I ironically came upon a picture and comments about one a few hours ago in the June/July Issue of Birds and Blooms, Special Addition, page 7. It shows one very similar to mine and says that they are quite common. The white under the neck, around the eyes, and the pale orange breast, etc., is the give away here. You've got a pretty sharp eye there partner As for the Orphaned Bill, no I haven't posted anything in general here... I gues I had assumed that others had seen the thread... probably should mention it, although I think they may have voted on it already.... then again, maybe not... it's so damned hush, hush like everything that they try to sneak through these days....
