p.1 #1 · Fawn 'rescue'

Hi, all What an experience this afternoon. We were hiking and heard a loud bleating - what a heart rendering sound. It was from a young (2-3 days?) whitetail fawn, apparently in distress. When we found her, this is what we saw:

She was bent over a log, head down. Found that her legs were caught in branches. I moved the branches and carefully started to ease a leg through the gap. Happily, she started to move and manage to slide out, and under the log. The next shots show her nervous, but safe and resting:

Mom and another doe nearby left when we approached, but hopefully returned to care for their now-safe baby.

I can't imagine how the little one felt, as well as the mom, not being able to do anything in this case. Hope the little cutie will be fine. Had to share this unusual mother's day story.

Thanks for the look. Was sure an emotional event.

Best,

Alan

Thanks for the kind replies. Happily, we found the fawn had left, so she must be o.k. and with mom. Sure glad we heard her, attracting us to the situation. That bleating is sure sad to hear.

The pictures at first looked like a horrible situation, #2 looked dreadful and so helpless. I am sure you felt good being able to help, that fawn looks so vulnerable in that 3rd shot, glad to see a happy ending, thanks for caring Allen

Bless you Alan... a day you will never forget! Incredibly beautiful little creature that certainly would have met an unfortunate fate if it hadn't been for you. YEAH!!!!
