All great Brian, but #3 is my favorite of the set - it's a winner.

They are rather beautifully coloured. Haven't managed to capture on of the two blues I've seen - these reds obviously hatch earlier.

Lovely series Brian- I really like the fourth one. Too bad the white petals in the first 2 are kind of blown out. It's probably just about impossible to get the bug and the bright white petals.

Thanks for looking and commenting Phil, Preston and karen - much appreciated.

Preston - you are right about the first two- I almost didn't bother taking the shots but decided to see if I could get reasonable exposure on the damselfly at least - suppose I should have tried doing an HDR on it

Well done Brian!

Damsels are emerging here as well, but they are a very common variety (a pale blue). Are these damsels living in your pond Brian? I know you have it stocked but I wonder if it's big enough to support a few nymphs?

Thanks John
AFAIK yes some do breed in my pond- I've just been taking pics of them laying eggs in my pond but both neighbours also have garden ponds so not sure whose pond they are coming from. Certainly last year I caught some azure damselfly nymphs coming out of my pond which was a suprise. I didn't think anything like that would survive with my koi in there.
I've only seen one blue damsel so far- they emerge a bit later than the reds.

Fantastic

I got a few of these at the weekend, but none as good as you as i kept nearly falling into the pond!!!

I found the red ones less likly to fly away than the blues.

What kit were you using on the last shot?

Julian - yes know what you mean- I was nearly doing that today when photographing these laying eggs - at one point there was a splash and I looked up to see my flash diffuser floating away . Last shot was 40D/MPE-65/430Ex flash.
