p.1 #1 · Album delivery deadlines ??

What is your typical time frame to create & deliver albums / wedding books?

I'd be particularly interested to hear from those in the Northeast or other similar areas where the wedding season is short, typically June to September.

Of the 24 weddings we have booked this year 18 are in July & August, back-to-back Friday and Saturday in most cases. So just preparing the print files & DVD's are going to take up all my time from Sundays to Thursdays, leaving no time to design albums. So my worst case is not being able to start an early July wedding's album until early September, which is 2 months, and then allow another month for the album to be printed and delivered to me. So maybe 3 months.

Is it unreasonable to suggest wedding book delivery deadlines of 2 to 4 months after the wedding date?

What is your typical album turnaround time?
Thanks,
Mike

Mine states album delivery 3 weeks after final layout proof approval... which may take a while. As long as you keep communication lines open, your brides should understand that you're a busy photographer and don't want to be rushed into giving them an inferior product.

Our studio shoots 150+ weddings per year. Our brides are quoted 4-6 months for turn-around. It is fairly common for professional studios that shoot 20+ weddings to have a 4-6 month turn-around. Quality is everything as this is the couple first family heirloom and something their kids kids will enjoy. Take your time and do it right! Cheers!
