How are you logging in?
As a guest, you will see a login link on the top of the page. This is a general login and is not specific to any board (It will redirect you to the forum index page)
If you want to stay in your current page, use the login located at the bottom of the screen.

I had expected login to be login NOT different depending on where on the page I did it. Hope I remember to use the one at the BOTTOM of the page even if I am at the TOP! Come to think of it I guess most times over the years I have been down the page when I decide to reply to something and thus actually use the bottom one and get to stay where I expect to be. The differeence doesn't make since to me — if we are on a given page why do you think we wouldn't want to be there after logging in
