p.1 #1 · Product Shots Help

i need a basic set up to do some product shots.

*lighting
*lens

i will either be using a canon XT or XTI as the camera body
do i need a DSLR? or a nice P&S will do? like a G7 or G9
i want to make the process as simple as possible

i was looking at this lighting kit:
http://www.photoflex.com/First_Studio_Products/First_Studio_Product_Kit/index.html

lens:
i've heard various sugguestions: canon 50mm 2.5/canon 60mm/ sigma 50mm 2.8 1:1

as for the type of products they will be coffee beans in their bags & redbull can size drinks.

Hi,

You may take a look at Table Top Studio. They use CFL lights. A lot cooler running and easier on electric bill both for lighting and a/c. Whatever camera you use you will need to shot RAW with custom color profile. That will provide consistency across product line.

Few samples using Table Top Studio:
