Once again I made it down to Barber Motorsports Park for the Honda Superbike Classic. With the exception of the all too predictable Yoshimura Suzuki beat down in Superbike class, the record crowds enjoyed the best racing I've ever seen at the Alabama facility.
The weather was superb but he light was very harsh at times. What are you going to do? No credentials this go round so judge my results accordingly:

Roberto Pietri centerpunches Roger Lee Hayden in Superbike practice on Saturday morning. It was a hard crash which left Roger Lee in very bad shape.
Nice shots I think I like 1 best but 10 and 7 are right there to! I watched that race on Speed last week hope I can get to the race in UT this year

Superbe shots JC - especially given the absence of the press pass. That crash looks like it really hurt Will that make the crash page in Road Racing World?

They'll be in there somewhere because John Ulrich had me send him a disc earlier this week.
Roger Lee is pretty messed up right now. I just hope he's able to recover fully.
It was the second worst crash I've ever witnessed in person.
Me and a friend of mine had the Hacking/May Barber Supersport crash shots that were in RRW (7/2007) last year. They are still showing that one on Speed Channel.
You have an 800/5.6? Or are you using a 2x TC with your 400/2.8?
Either way really great stuff.
Gene
I had a 400 f/2.8L IS and 2x TC.
I could have used the 800 f/5.6L from where I was standing. Shooting from the spectator areas it's very tough to get a decent shot without some serious glass.
Very nice work. If John is starting to use your work maybe you should send him a note to see if it is possible for him to request a credential for the race at Road Atlanta in September. These images are certainly worthy of being magazine quality. You also might submit to Road Racer X. These are a very good example of the kind of work that they would use. The first step would be to contact Chris Jonnum at RRX or John at RRW.

Mike,
Thanks for the kind words Mike. I've enjoyed seeing your work here and on APN.
I actually shot the AMA Superbikes for RRW at Road Atlanta and Miller Motorsports Park last year. As you probably know, he uses Nelson/Riles for most everything. I did get several shots printed from both of these events, so I guess that means I doing something he likes. I've never contacted Road Racer X. I thought Andrew Wheeler was working for them?
Anyway, I'm likely going to be shooting Road Atlanta if JU comes through for me.

Next to the "obvious" shot in the pit chair there, my favorite has to be the Mladin shot. Exceptional stuff there, great series. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks.
I'm especially proud of the Mladin pan shot which is 1/250th @ f/9 and full frame.
