I normally hang out in the Nature & Wildlife Forum, & I guess this one can make both... But technically it belongs here as this is a Macro shot....

The only reason I post is because my husband just fell in love with the shot & he's bugging me (no pun intended....)

I hope it passes your inspection.....

Beautiful shots Lil. I always have trouble getting a good exposure with yellow flowers, but you got the petals and insect. Hope to see more from you in the future.

Wow, this is your 'first' post here, what have you been waiting for! Excellent color, comp and lighting. A very interesting bug, I really like the second shot. Great detail, careful this gets addictive..........good to see you here, have enjoyed your Nature posts too.

Thank you for such a wonderful welcome Doug.... I know to be careful with yellow. It's a hard color with digital. So I checked my histograms & played a little with the EV - - I really wanted to keep my bg as dark as possible so I allowed for a slightly "dark" histogram.

I will be glad to come again - - I hear you guys are a friendly group. I like that.

Just not brave enough Karl, just not brave enough.... I know, once the bugs start showing up..... I'm just "lost" to them. My husband just laughs when I come ruinning through the house singing "Big Bug in the Garden.... There's a Big Bug in the Garden". He knows I'm lost for an hour or so.

Thank you Mark. Too late I'm afraid - - I'm hooked on Macros as well as Wildlife. No way out of it.

I new here too but am finding it alot of fun and very friendly so far. Now I just need more bugs and less snow.

HI Jim,

my issue with the second shot is that the head is not perfectly in focus, but I guess it's close enough. I actually prefer the second shot as well so I'm glad you like it best.

Well, I got no snow & only like to "visit" with snow. Big bugs as soon as I find them. It's time to start paying better attention I realized today.

If you photograph one of those larvae near some aphids you'll have to add [extreme carnage] to your subject. Nice to see one just innocently ambling about!
