p.1 #1 · XSi release date

I've seen the XSi release date as April 2008. Does anyone have any clue when they might be available specifically?

I leave for a trip on April 11 and intend to buy a second camera to carry on the trip. I'd hate to buy an XT, use it for two weeks, and sell it to buy an XSi.

Hopefully someone has some good intel they don't mind sharing.

thanks in advance

Not before your trip, something like the last week of April.

Buy a 5D. They're out, shipping and well tested.

What's your first camera? The XSi will not use CF cards.

If you want compact, consider an XTi, I had one and it was a great value.

I sold it for a 40D as I needed a larger body, more rugged, and better touches like a pentaprism instead of the darker (and more compact) pentamirror.

I don't regret having had the XTi at all, if money allowed, I'd have kept it.

I was in a camera shop on Tuesday while a Dell Rep was there (not a common occurrence for me here in WY). He said that the XSi release was just pushed back. This was 90 miles from home and he was supposedly to have an XSi with him - unfortunately he was not able to get that to bring either. For your trip's sake - I'm sorry to say I wouldn't plan on having the XSi.

Best Wishes - and have a Great Trip!

The news doesn't sound good....

I currently have an XTi.

I'd hoped to have an XSi with my 100-400 lens attached and have my current XTi with my 10-22 or 24-105 attached.

Last year I ended up taking too many shots with a long lens and missed a bunch of area and landscape shots because I didn't feel like constantly swapping lenses. I may go ahead and buy an additional XTi and sell it when I get back.

Thanks again, lets hope they come out soon!

As stated, there have been reports that Best Buy is expecting them on April 6th. An employee took a photo of a store printout that shows them bein in stock on that date. However, you will pay the Best Buy premium price to get it.

reddrum,

Why not pick up a used XT. I've seen these for as low as $350 in the used forums.

For the about the first 3 months Best Buy is going to be just as expensive as every other place. It's 3 months and beyond when Best Buy is going to have this camera at MSRP while every where else is $200 cheaper. The premium with Best Buy is the local sales tax paid and mandatory restocking fee on all returnable electronics.
