It is too much light for fill flash. Normally I dial flash exposure comp (FEC) -1 1/3 f-stops. If you wanted the flash to be main light then I would dial -1 to -2 f-stop underexposure from metered background. I just say this because the background looks properly exposed but the models features are too bright.

He never said he used this for "fill flash." He is creating a lighting pattern, not just filling in pockets. Good use of flash IMO.

Not sure what mood you were going for with the WB but the trees are giving the model an overall green color cast, which is common for photos taken under / around foliage. Pink skin + green light = gray pallor. Because our eyes adapt its difficult to see the green bias when shooting, but if you are under trees it will always be there.

Setting custom WB off a gray card held by the model or just having her hold one as a reference is a good preventative measure. When shooting the WB setting shot outdoors I always first set my camera WB to "daylight". After setting the custom WB using that shot I'll shoot the card again with the Custom WB shot. Toggling back-and-forth between the before-after card shots provides a clue what the actual color temp is relative to daylight.

There's also a tree growing out of her head in the second shot

Color and exposure look perfect on my monitor. Good shot.

Hi pablo,

What portable softbox are you using? Is it a self created/modified one? Or are you using lastolite?

I like the balance of flash and natural light. Beware of the tree (or pole) coming out of here head in the 2nd pic.

As for the softbox, you can see some photos here :

I have that question often so I'll be shooting the pieces apart and put them in hi-res
