This is a picture I took a little bit north of Garlock, CA:
Something odd:
My first thought is that its something on the lens or the UV filter, dust or maybe a drop of water. Heres the thing: I can't find it any of the other images I took that day. I have one taken immediately afterwards, and its not there. While it looks like a balloon of some sort, I didn't see any while on the hill.
Based on my totally non-scientific research, it looks like whatever it is is suspended in the air, as it is lit on the top right and has a shadow on the bottom left - consistent with the position of the sun.
I don't really get into conspiracy theories. I think its pretty likely that aliens are out there, given the size of the universe, but believe that 99.999999 percent of "UFOs" can be explained when critically evaluated. So I'm betting that there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for what is in the picture.

I find it strange that at 1\1600 shutter speed the object would be blurry at that distance. Also it seems blurry compared to the mountains that apear furthere away. I would think it was traveling at a high rate of speed then?

Assuming you're an honest person and didn't Photoshoped this 1, it looks just like a OOF weather balloon to me. Now, about the aliens, I think a shot of them would belong in the People Photog. forum. I can imagine someone nitpicking an alien shot: "The head is just too big IMO..and all that green is too distracting, not to mention the long arms"
A shot of their spacecraft moving fast across the sky - in the Sports Corner
The final prove that MKIII can focus after all

No photoshopping. Here is the weird thing: If it was a balloon, which is what it looks like, I'm positive I would have seen it go up. At no other time did I see anything in the sky, or through the viewfinder. Thats what has me puzzled.

very interesting, I too am a believe in aliens, although I've never had something like this happen, I do find it very cool to see or hear of a sighting. It actually reminds me of the 5D2 threads, you always want them to be true, but its usually just rumors, lol.
