I was thinking of getting an adapter to mount an olympus zuiko lens onto my new 5D. My question is "are those cheap chinese adapters on ebay any good?" Anyone have any experience with them? I see some people use Cameraquest brand which is quite a bit more expensive. I am new to this so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Fotodiox consumer grade Oly-EOS adapters are about $30. Shipping is $5. Work like a charm.
You have to twist the Fotodiox adapter enough so that the little screw that protrudes from the ring properly engages the aperture tab on the lens. When you get your Zuiko lens, squeeze the silver tabs on the lens so that you can see which tab is the aperture tab.
Do NOT follow the advice offered by Fotodiox tech support, which is that the lens can only be stopped down by pressing the tab. Simply not true.
BTW, the Fotodiox Pro grade is considerably more expensive ($90) and tends to make Zuikos back-focus below f2.
I have a roxsen nikon to eos adapter. Cheap, but okay.
It allows my nikkors to focus beyond than infinity, so you have to
watch out, but it's better than the other way around.
Right now, I have a "big-is" adapter on the way, with a AF confirm chip.
I don't know about that one yet.
