Perhaps I am mistaken, but I thought I read here and even saw a photo, of a 10-22 EF-S lens with an adaptor that would then fit on a 1D body. I have searched but am unable to find that photo. Is that possible to use the 10-22 lens on the 1D?
Thanks.

I know that I modified an 18-55 EF-S lens to mount on a 10D, and that worked fine...however, the larger mirror of a 1D might be an issue if you accidentally use the lens at a focal length where the lens protrudes into the camera too much...
I personally would rather just get the Sigma 12-24, which is fine on full frame and 1.3 crop...though admittedly, I never seriously consider any EF-S lenses since I cannot really use them...
Though I would possibly consider the EF-S 60mm macro and tubes on a 1D series....
or you can get the Sigma 10-20, since it uses the standard EF mount. I played with that on my 1DM2 for a few shots during wedding formals for some pleasing results.
I use my 10-22 on my 1D and you need to remove the plastic cover of the 10-22, stick your index finger and pull-out. Don't worry, you will in some cases need to put a little muscle into it, but it will come out. The EF-S lenses have that gray pastic cover for the 1.6 crop bodies (sort of like an extension).
You range of the lense would be about a 15-22, if you see the corners are black in the viewfinder DO NOT SHOOT.
I personally dont think the 1D has enough pixel density to be used as an ultra wide camera. I used to use it with a sigma 12-24 and thought the images lacked detail, especially when handheld and shot with high iso internally. just my 2 cents.
