I took a picture today and when the mirror dropped down after word the actual mirror fell out of its frame. I took the lens off and it just looks like whatever adhesive holds the mirror in the frame, dried out and let go. I sent it off to Canon today to get it fixed. I am assuming this isn’t too serious. Anybody else have this problem?
Thanks

There were a lot of posts on another forum from people who had this problem but they all seemed to be from hot humid climate. They thought maybe the heat was affecting the glue. It's a simple fix- they just reglue it assuming nothing had been scratched.
The mirror of mine didn't fall off but the mechanism jammed to where the mirror wouldn't drop back down after a shot. I had somewhere around 5000 shots on it. Canon fixed it free, it was still under warantee. No trouble since and I have over 26,000 now. GREAT camera.
Thank you all for your input.
It doesn’t sound like I am an isolated case. I look after my equipment so I was a little disappointed. I guess it would be understandable if I left it in the car in the hot sun!! I am at a little under 5000 actuations and about 6 months out of warranty. I love the 5D and if it has to spend some time in the shop then so be it. Going back to the 1.6 crop sure makes me appreciate the FF even more.
I also had the problem recently while in Japan. Fortunately it was fixed relatively quickly, 1.5 weeks. I was informed that it was a batch problem there, but it seems like it's a far wider spread of issues... I don't think too many people have experienced it, but it is a potential issue.
