I am still a very amateur photographer, but having fun learning each day. I am also attempting to start a web site. Here is my first attempt. While all of the links aren't complete yet, the "weddings' link does have pictures.
Good on you Scott.
The site looks nice. Some of the images are great. Others show your inexperience. You are obviously aware of that.
I would suggest your next step in the learning curve is some good books but also a couple of good dvd's on shooting weddings.
Aim to pick up some work assisting if you can as well.
Site is ok...nothing great, but it does get the job done. The camera in the top left corner is weird in my opinion. I'm also not a fan of the color scheme(s). I would say choose one color scheme and use it throughout your site. Typo on passionate on the first page...
You have some nice photos, but many of them are suffering from poor lighting...i.e. too much direct flash, or not enough fill-flash to fill in shadows. Also, a couple shots are overly softened, such as 17/34 and 32/34 on Matt and Jessica. I think softening is ok with some shots, but be sure not to overdo it. I find the best way to soften is to create two layers in photoshop, gaussian blur the lower layer, then adjust the opacity on the top layer until it looks nice. The greater the opacity on the top layer, the less softening you will see.
