p.1 #17 · can't click and drag with mac? | |
1) To reboot, press the power button and choose shut down. Once it has finished shutting down, press power again.
2) Once you are logged in, choose 'Utilities' from the 'Go' menu in the menubar at the top of the screen. The Utilities folder will open. type D I S K on the keyboard, quickly, and Disk Utility should be highlighted. Double click it. A window will open. Click on your main ('startup') hard disc on the left, and then press the button which will appear on the right labelled 'Repair disc permissions' and wait for it to do so.
3) You may need to reboot to see if it has helped.
4) If it hasn't then you should probably run disc first aid at startup. To do so, reboot the machine as before, and hold down Command+S as it boots. You should then see it boot into a scary unix text interface. Wait for it to stop spewing text, and then type
fsck -fy <return>
which is unixese for File System ChecK -force-yes
Let that run till you get a $ prompt back, and then type
reboot now <return>
Hope that fixes it, but if it doesn't, I would advise reinstalling the system software that came on the discs with your Mac. If that doesn't work, ask Apple for a new Mac.
