Nice catch & really fun shot!

I so wish I'd found my true passion much, much earlier in life. #wouldacouldashoulda

One from Chino where sometimes, you just can't back up any farther!

Thanks, Jay! Your Corsair is another stunner.

Here's what my two vehicles looked like after the young ladies got finished with them.

Ditto.

Did I miss something? Why is the Prowler grounded? Will she be back in the air at Alliance?

Hi Erich,

Nope, The Prowler is out of commission and has been since AFW two years ago. The MA2A crew were the last ones to use her as a photo platform. Corrosion in a landing gear pad, wings need to come off, 250K at the low end. Not likely to happen anytime soon.

The good news is Devil Dog and it's exceptionally able crew is available whenever I need a B25.

I'm trying to catch up. Zim, did you shoot the Stearman image? Nice perspective!

Along the same lines Jay, I wish I was 30 and know what I know today. But, we are where we are, doing what we're doing, at just the right time in the big schedule, so let's just be glad we're this side of green, doing what we love.

Zim, I am in need of about four yards of Colorado river rock. How many can you carry in the Remos?

I really want something called "Mexican Beach Pebbles", they're beautiful, so much so that they garner 600 bucks a ton! I'm fighting the urge!!

I worked it up to be my new cover photo on Facebook, and it fit better reversed (visit www.facebook.com/photosSteveZ to see what I mean).

Thanks, Jim. I shot that from the front seat of an AirCam. What a photo platform that is, for stuff in front of you and to the sides anyway. And as long as your A2A subjects are slower than about 75 knots.

I can carry maybe three. Three rocks, that is.

How much does that skycatcher in the background fly?

It flies a lot, Glenn; I see it almost daily in the pattern.

On the ramp at KEIK this evening, I spotted this transient turbine-modded A36 and thought it would make a dandy photo platform. Probably not cheap to operate, though.

Ha! Burns kerosene, yes. Sips fuel, no; especially at 1000' AGL.

The results of the Great MA2A Editing Project are in: Mark McGrath, Jay Beckman, Glenn Watson and I all tried our hands at reworking my master SOOC file. Here they are, for your delectation and edification...

I just posted a test reel to YouTube with clips shot with the Kenyon 4x4 + D800 + 40-70mm f/2.8. All are hand-held.

To me, the most impressive one (in terms of the effectiveness of the 4x4) is the A2A clip of the T-6 and P-51 in formation on a low pass down the runway at Paine Field. I shot that blind over my shoulder (I was facing backwards in the rear seat of the T-6): note the canopy frame wandering in and out of the shot as the 4x4 absorbed the turbulence and held steady on the scene outside.

The aerials over Boulder and the Rockies I shot this morning; it wasn't terribly turbulent, but it wasn't smooth, either. The video looks a little funky because I managed to set the D800 up to underexpose the video; I don't know how, because I was shooting stills between video clips at EV+1.0.

Kenyon 4x4 stabilizer - test reel

I should also mention that no further stabilization was added in the video editing process.
