Not something you see too often on a US-based USAF fighter - a fancy paint job. 425th Fighter Squadron/Royal Singapore Air Force F-16 celebrating 20 years of training at Luke AFB.

Jeff,

Boring trivia of the day.

That particular machine is owned by the RSAF. USAF owned machines assigned to the 425th still carry the Star & Bars insignia, while the RSAF owned machines carry the lions head roundel of the RSAF.

Edited for TOPP

Hi Niall

is that trimotered item a Junkers?

They have a little history for me. I was flown around Papua New Guinea courtesy of Gibbes Sepik airways in some of those when on school excursion at the age of 11 or 12.

Have a memory of seeing one being loaded at jackson ap with mining equipment to fly up into the highlands. Could not fit it through the cargo door so they unscrewed the roof panels, dropped the plant is and back on with the panels.

Cheers all. Been a bit absent but having great enjoyment catching up

Tim

Correct you are Mark. That's probably why it has the fancy tail paint. The RSAF has another Viper at Luke with their lion's head logo in red and white on the tail - I just haven't had a chance to catch it yet. Both are very unique; especially for Luke.

In fact, the F-16 that was painted in colors to match a 1930's training squadron (yellow wings and blue tail) as part of the process to sell the idea of QF-16 drones was ordered back to normal grey before that airframe went to the Boneyard in Tucson.
That F-16 did not go to the Bone Yard, it went from Ellington to Boeing to Camp Mabry on a pedestal from a generous donation from Boeing for allowing them to use the aircraft.

Yes it's ridiculously cold, and everything is a sheet of ice, roads, landscape, everything, and it's brought most everything to a screeching halt, which I'm kind of enjoying. Sheila and I sat in two overstuffed chairs by the fire this afternoon, we talked, I shot pictures of the winter outside, just a delightful respite from the rat race...........

Beautiful!

I'm 'enjoying' some enforced downtime, too, Jim: I came down with the flu yesterday and have been mostly confined to the horizontal. First case of flu for me in over twenty years; I get a flu shot every year but it clearly didn't work, this time.

Well we had lots of wind not to much rain, but it was heavy other parts of the country were much worse.
At the river the water was very high so flood warnings were in place in de old city center of Dordrecht the water was knee high at our side of the river it was a little less.
But the water was almost as high as 1953 when we had a big flood because of that they decided that several storm surge barriers were to be closed for protection

My sister lives in north Holland and she thought that she could put the fire on in the wood burner but the wind was much stronger over there so she experienced some sort of backlash don't know how to translate that, but wind in the chimney and fire don't go together so she had to call the fire department lucky only minor smoke damage.
