Yes it was. You may be able to see it tomorrow evening. Look west and somewhat below the moon. I am not sure how far away from the moon it will be, but that will give you some reference. For me, I looked out around 6:30, but the sky was too bright at that time. I did manage to spot it with my binoculars. From there, I set up my tripod, got my remote release and aimed about where I thought it was. A quick look through the binoculars confirmed that I was close, but it was so dim that I just guessed at the focus, and then I made minute adjustments from there. Unfortunately, the head of the comet looks more like a white line than a fuzzy snowball. I will try again tomorrow night as well, so maybe my results will be better then.

The comet should be visible for the next several days, although it may already be dimming. It will travel from due west moving more northward each night.

We went for a few days fishing, we travelled west from Wagga to Whyalla , South Australia,...about approx 800 miles each way,...
Couldn't help but take a camera ,...got some great sunsets from the boat

PHOTO OP ALERT

To my Fort Worth/Alliance brother and sisters. It appears you've got an Antonov An124 headed your way today. Looks like it is scheduled to arrive in the late afternoon or early evening. Hey Jeff, not sure if you caught it...but there's actually 2 A-124's scheduled to AFW, one out of Malga (Africa) due in at 20:47, and then there's an "unknown" Antonov due in at 21:17 from Rio De Janero, and then a A-124 due in from Rio at 04:27. I think there's a flight plan error in there, either that or there's actually 3 Antonov's flying in to Fort Worth in 24 hours.

of a stranger note, the A-225 hasn't filed a flight plan since march of last year according to Flightaware...which is the day it left Calgary...then relayed through Bangor to West Africa.

Hey Steve - I was not aware of the other potential An-124 flights for today. Around these parts, we have found that sometimes the Antonov flight plans are reliable and other times not. Hopefully, the flight plans for Alliance are valid and someone will get some nice images.

considering they're coming from 2 locations I would say there are definitely two coming.

The one from Malga is already showing as Enroute over the Atlantic

This is all very confusing to me. I'm confused as to why they would be sending two 124's when the 225 definitely appears to be not doing anything...

I suppose they could be going to different places...ah who knows...I'd like to see one of them again. I'd settle for a 124.

Steve,

Malaga (LEMG) is in Spain.

Flightaware is not always the most accurate. It's more likely that the Antonov is inbound AFW to collect something, will then fly it down to Brazil before returning to AFW.
