Going on Zims comment I think Im in the ballpark.

Sounds good, Al. If it's bumpy you'll want to favor the use of the 24-105. And since you don't really need the long end of the 70-200 for A2A, you might consider swapping the lenses and shooting the 24-105 on the 1D4 and the 70-200 on the 5D3. Your call, of course: our subjects tend to fill the viewfinder even at 24mm when they tuck in close under the B-25's tail.

The second frame is a hefty crop of a D800 file, but it was still shot with the 24-70.

First flight of the Bombardier C Series was today, broadcast live. New mid size commercial jet to compete with the 737 etc.

On another note, after much deliberation, I won't be attending Alliance this year. Just can't squeeze the budget enough for the A2A mission this year, and I think I'll save the funds in the hopes that the jet teams will be back in the air next year.

Sorry to hear it, Steve. Understandable, but disappointing.

I sat there and deliberated, even maneuvered my schedule and budget so that I could justify going. I REALLY want to go...I'm just saddened by all the teams cancellations.

If the teams were still flying I definitely would have hit Abbotsford and Alliance this year (f-22 was supposed to be at Abbotsford), but the lineups and even the static displays at both shows rely so heavily on the US military that justifying the expense for me is tough.

I've heard some rumors circulating about some European content at some of the North American shows next season...that could make things interesting...

Please don't post any more head on shots of P51's I'm going in denial right now.
No just a Joke I hope you have a cracking time don't forget to post some stuff if able.
I only could get two weeks off instead of the three weeks I needed but I took the two weeks To be honest I have looked in too see what the prices were of the tickets for maybe a surprise visit but It's just to expensive.
In stead I'm going with Marcel to Wales in the UK http://goo.gl/maps/5QynZ the Hotel is right smack in the middle of the LFA7 LFA stands for Low Flying Area so we are hoping for some great weather....

That was Voodoo in the lead, and for the rest of the race young Hinton flew much higher. He could afford to: after the second lap Voodoo was never less than about 7-1/2 seconds out front of 2nd place Strega.

Wow I'm about 100 pages behind and not sure when I will catch up...whew.

I caught an image this weekend that I really like. I knew when I looked through the peephole that it could turn out real nice, and I think it did.

It up-sized nicely and I just picked up a 16x20 board print this afternoon.

The only downside, it was a really heavy crop (four megapixel) to get the framing but it was that or nothing. It is the first image below.

The folks at Camp Atterbury Joint Maneuver Training Center (CAJMTC) are hosting a joint exercise called "Bold Quest" with some of our NATO allies. Here in Fort Wayne the local Air National Guard is hosting two French (Armée de l'Air) Mirage 2000 fighters, two Navy F/18's from Naval Air Station Patuxent River, and two Marine Harriers base unknown. They have been flying two sorties per day for about a week now. Earlier we had a French KC-135 here as well, we suspect it went to Grissom Air Reserve Base.

My mistake: I was so excited to hear a Merlin running at 100+ inches I didn't read the title closely.

Under the heading of, "What a stick....!" My friend Chuck Gardner once again kept his cool and put all of his warbird hours out there where they were needed. The Brat III shelled and engine over New Mexico, but when all the dust settled, through Chuck's expertise, the airplane was unscathed. Sitting in the middle of nowhere, but unscathed. This guy is just flat out good.

I'm looking forward to your pix's Tim.

I noticed the ad on the back of the program about how Thom is part of the rare class of pilots to be in the "last" race but the banner on the bleachers gives next years date? My concern was the size of the crowds which seemed down from the years past...
