Would like to post a few more from my first show. Was wondering what shutter speed works best for full circles. Does it depend on type of engine as I seem to do better with radials, maybe something with the way the props are geared. C and C will help. Used to shoot a lot of college Football and it seems a lot of what I learned there helps with this. Already looking forward to the Blue Angels April 27 and 28 in South Carolina.

Welcome, Michael! Happy New Year to you too.

I'm sure someone will chime in with a more definitive answer, but yes, the shutter speed you need for a full disk really depends. In my limited experience, I think the modern acrobatic planes are probably the easiest. Followed in general by single engine warbirds, then the multi-engine bombers. For me, by far the toughest is a Corsair.

I am wondering, where they found plastic wrap, to cover the Shuttle? How they made such a big piece, is another question..
Happy new Years to all, even those that are AWOL.

Under the heading of our mantra..."Do Ya want the shot........or not?!" I just landed from a 1.2 hour air to ground shoot...Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! The answer to our question is always "Yes!!" 39 degrees and 20kts. out of the south does make you think just a bit longer prior to answering though.

I know I've said it several times, but I really think this was my last assignment of 2012

Brian, I believe there was just the one Crew Compartment Trainer at JSC. I was fortunate to get to crawl around in it and several other full size mockups two years ago. A friend of mine worked at JSC as a Mission Controller and gave me the grand tour.

Crew Compartment trainer - Couldn't spend much time in there, best of the three pictures my friend was able to take.

Another shot towards the back of the CCT - the window would be looking out at the payload bay.

Wow Andrew, thanks for that series. That must have been amazing. I once had tickets for a Shuttle launch that got scrubbed, and I traded them in for a Cape Canaveral Then and Now tour, which for me was pretty awe-inspiring in and of itself. I can't imagine what your access must have been like - I wouldn't have been able to sleep for days in advance.

OK, based on the photos Glenn, Jay, Jeff, Jan-Arie and the rest of you guys are showing, I'm taking a sabbatical to go figure out which end of the camera to point at airplanes! Hope this post doesn't show up at TOP, if so, Glenn, would you cover for me?!
