Jo, Jim and Tim -

Next year it will be 10 years since I flew with my buddy to Reno in his Stemme motorglider for race week. If I'm not mistaken, that year's Friday Gold heat is still the fastest in Reno's history. I think it would be a great thing to see the races again with some of my MA2A friends.

Halle and I spent the afternoon at opposite ends of two overstuffed chairs pushed nose to nose. She was engrossed in Dora on Sheila's iPad, and I was working on my indepth study of Yousef Karsh's technique, both personal and photographic. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon as i reach the end of the Christmas decorating insanity that takes place around here following Turkey Day.

A beautiful flying day, indeed. Started by flying with Marcia up to Greeley for breakfast at the Barnstormer Cafe, on the field. After dropping M back at the barn in Erie, I flew up to Longmont to meet my old friend, Ed Musselman, a retired Western Airlines DC-10 driver (he started flying the line in DC-4's) who lives on a beautiful ranch in the Judith Mountains outside Lewistown, MT. Ed's a spry 93 and was looking forward to flying with me in the Remos. He still maintains a grass airstrip on his ranch and flies a Citabria he keeps in the lean-to hangar there. I hope I'm as 'with it' at 73 as he is at 93.

He was happily flying the Remos when I opened the door to grab the first frame of Longs Peak and the Front Range. We need snow! The second frame is a shot of the Remos and the Tesla Model S in front of my hangar at KEIK. It's worth noting that the car weighs about 7 times as much as the airplane, empty weight.

I've told the kids that I'll give up my car keys when it's time, but be prepared for HQ to become my little version of Ruby Ridge if anyone comes after my airplane!

Sobering thought for the day: when I met him, Ed was the same age I am now. And I was in my mid-twenties. Where did those 35 years go?

Reno - I have flown in there 3 times to visit NAS Fallon, which is an hours drive away.

In all cases I have stayed at the Circus Circus. Rooms are cheap & reasonable.
Car rental outlets are next to the baggage reclaim.

I used Southwest to get to / from Reno. They operate regular flights throughout the day from Las Vegas, and at a reasonably cheap cost. Flt time is around 1hr.

I know what you mean Steve. The more sobering thought is how quickly the next

years will go. Oh well, not much we can do about the 100% mortality rate down here, except to make the most of each day. I believe you are on track with that plan.
