The light at 2 sucks until late in the afternoon, but you do what you can. Here is Dreadnought with spraybar water pouring out of it's dual oil coolers. The slow nose case R-3350 powered 232 has a boil off system, hence no water. And a couple of other shots from 2.

Awsome Reno work Tim....

How does 232 have boil off radiator if its a radial,.,,,arent they air cooled ??,.or are just the oilcoolers water/oil coolers ??

It is cowled so tight that air cooling no longer works. It has a DC-7 oil cooler in it below the cockpit.

Lady Jo, should we plan on a Reno trip in 2013? I have a number of good friends who have been asking me to come out for years. I'll go if you'll go. BTW, Austin is still on for this week, I'll keep you posted.

If you don't go this year you may never get another chance. If it even happens this year, it will be the 50th. A number of us think that if they pull it off this year and get the 50th in, it's over.

Tim, can you offer any advice on best ways of renting cars/hotel rooms/things to know about Reno?

I may do this instead of Oshkosh, this time round.

Reno advice. Most downtown casinos are fine. I have stayed at Circus Circus the last few years. I have e-mail alerts from them and I stayed nine days this year for only $340. I booked in December of last year.
Vacation time may not allow, but you really need to spend 9 days to get the full effect of the race. I always arrive the Saturday after Labor Day, and leave Monday afternoon the day after the races. Racing does not start until Wednesday, but qualifying starts Monday. With the exception of my arrival day, I recommend getting to the field at least 1/2 hour before sunrise, and don't leave until well after sunset. On average it is a 15-16hr day.

Car rental is easy, right at the airport in the terminal, but make a reservation. RARA will start taking press applications around April-May via their website, www.airrace.org.

This year I will reserve a room, it only costs one night of rental to hold the room, and reserve my car early. I will wait until the last minute to book a flight, or earlier if the races are confirmed. Despite what RARA may say, everything is very much up in the air as to whether the races are actually going to happen this year.

Thanks Tim. Not sure I have the energy for 9x16hr days but we shall see. There were a bunch of Sport Air Racers at Reno this year; I might see if I can tag along with some (or at least go visit) during the week. I will keep my eye on things...

Sorry guys, I know were umungst firends so i can divulge how this was done..

Car wise , Its an older 911 with late model bumpers n bits..

Fotog wise, it was taken with my No2 Camera a 50D, using a Sigma 10-20 lens @ f11 @ 2.5 - 3.5 seconds...SS

The trick is the camera is bolted to a boom arm 15' long which is suction cap mounted to the car, (CS5 removal of boom).

The back ground is actually a lit up shop front with the car moving (slowly pushed)
The Slow SS & lights really set it off.

Just got an email from my mate Dave Brabham,...look out racing world, the third generation is about to hit Formula Ford in UK...
Daves son, is about to start his first season of Formula Ford,...the third generation is coming....
Daves eldest brother Geoff (who was 5 time IMSA champ is the US a few years ago) has a son Mathew who is currently running in the US in I think Formula Mazda doing well.....
Grand Dad Jack would be very proud....
