With the odd curvature of a wheel arch, could it perhaps be...the top of the photographer's head? I can see tripod legs in the panel below, and those unusual curves can sometimes lead to just a bit of something being reflected in the middle of the panel.

Mike

(Going back to lurking. Keep up the fantastic work, everyone! Maybe sometime I'll get to shoot some planes and contribute some images to this thread again!)

yeah me too. Steve, Nadya and Rodolfo and I we're sitting in the Hilton drinking coffee when the fireball went off. Its great to see so many Phantom shots. I wish somebody could resurrent some F-14's and do the same.

and the momentary warmth that those explosions provided...priceless. Second only to the hot chocolate that Laura handed me.

OK, this is weird. That shot of my Tesla I posted yesterday has an odd reflection in the front fender. It's not there in the next frame, which I shot from the same tripod position at a slightly different exposure. Near as I can figure, I caught a hot air balloon reflected in the car's finish, but it was 4:30pm on a breezy afternoon. I can't imagine a hot air balloon pilot willing to inflate and launch in conditions like that. But what else would make a reflection like that above the reflection of the roofline of the garage?

I've normalized the exposures between #2 and #3 for illustration.

That's not the top of your head ? Kinda looks curly and grey

That's gorgeous Steve! I see that at dusk out somewhere where the post sunset wrap around light illuminates the almost liquid lines of that beauty. D800 subject for certain!!

I think you're right, Jim: how about a dusk ramp shoot with something exotic in the airplane line as a backdrop? Ross's T-38, maybe. Or, wait, I can see it now: the Tesla in front of an F-4 with the Tora Tora Tora wall of fire behind. Can you set that one up for me?

Gents,

I suggested to Deborah on the Sunday morning about having a dusk / night shoot in future years - either on the Friday or Saturday Night.

Everybody in our group on the Friday could have got shots similar to this exceptional image from Larry.

However - the majority of the group were too busy gassing, reliving the B-25 flight and posing for a group shot, leaving myself, Larry and Kevin Hong to get the shots.

You're right, and it's a point I had already noted.

Just one question: what does "gassing" mean?
