" For security reasons, we are unable to provide a schedule in advance of the show "

I found that interesting .. I did a quick look at the page for Alliance, as I thought well, it's late but maybe I could still go, and saw line which I had never thought about before .......

In the end, Oct. 6th is Airport Day here, so I'll get to shoot some aviation, though not to be compared to Alliance but, it's local, free and I really need more practise at the local airport pannin' and grabbin' local AC before bookin' out of state to a big show, plus I'm still thinkin' bout goin' to Tn to shoot big White Tail bucks or someplace else for bear this fall

The photos have been great, but it would be pretty cool to shoot those bi and tri planes for a day static and doin' touch n goes.

Mr. Kyle, ditto from my end. Outstanding.

Also, it is questionable if I can make Alliance this year. If anyone wants my tickets, please PM me.

Good Morning Everyone,

Just a quick heads up re: our B25 experiences at AFW. If you have had a change of plans, please let me know. The financial logistics surrounding these events are a bit daunting, and I'm "all in" as they say, regardless of how many folks show up. Any change in the number of folks participating makes a considerable difference, especially late in the game.

Looking forward to our gathering. The weather has turned and it's beautiful here in The Lone Star.

JW

I'm in for 1 flight.

Just a short update & FINALLY a post.
Wife is doing better. This is hump day at the hospital.
She is getting up/eating, but still very tired/weak.
All expected after liver surgery

Now on to the post. Last weekend the dear wife said "go visit your friends & take pictures cause after I get home from the hospital, you wont get a break for several weeks.
So she gave me a kitchen pass to go to the Mather Air Show on 9/8.

It has been ages since I shot planes, especially trying to master the pan-prop blurr thing.
I was using my newly acquired 400/5.6 w/TC and struggled to get anything under 1/200.
But here are a few that I will present as an offering. I don't know how you guys do it at 1/60 & lower. I can only hope I get there w/practice.

Great news about your sweetheart Dan. Take a deep breath and give thanks. Solid shots of the Mather show BTW.

Good news Dan. Beautiful images Guys! Sorry I've been so fragmented. Working on getting my act together. I am thankful for all of you. Walked into HQ early this morning and glanced over at Glenn's hangar for a painful second, moments later I received a text (and you know who you are),"Praying for you this morning Jim. May He comfort you and be your strength today." Just a coincidence? Don't think so.

Once again I thank you all for being the individuals that you are, and for caring for me and each other in times of pain and sadness. Someone said recently that they don't come to MA2A very often anymore because there's so much personal stuff on it..........................I didn't get the point

Jim,
I come here because of the "real" personal stuff and a close second for the awesome images!

BTW, if our only connection on a photo forum are comments about sharpness, composition or shadow detail, we are losing our humanity & a few other God given gifts!

Here we get the benefit of both.

Welcome back Jim

We get the point...and that's what counts. Not to be exclusive, far from it: there isn't a more welcoming corner of cyberspace anywhere. But MA2A's tolerance of eclectic interests, not to mention civility and inclusiveness, is not for everyone: it will attract and retain those who value it for what it is. And that's in large measure thanks to your leadership, Jim.

Now that Glenn's got these stereo pairs figured out, here's one from Nova Scotia where the tree is still firmly rooted to the ground.

Thank you boys!

I'll tell you all the story when we're together, but my Nikon lens holdings have tripled in recent weeks, ummm, make that quadrupled. 70-200 VR, 12-24, 60/2.8 TC 20EII. I shot Chandler's ball game with the D800 and the 70-200 the other night. While I love it for what it does, I found myself feeling like I was using a screwdriver when a hammer was called for. The 1DX ruins you for anything that's happening fast. I know that you will be astounded at the depth of this observation, a 36.6 mp file that is soft, is just a bigger soft file.................. You have to get a bigger bit bucket to throw them in, it all gets very complicated. I'm rather fond of pushing the envelope, but the D800 for sports, isn't even in the envelope.

Now it did me right on stadium night though, but so did the X.
