Bryan, would you be so kind as to keep us posted on what you know of events? Hard to find stuff on the news and Internet, and I don't want to ask Jim questions like "when's the funeral?"

Here's a few images taken on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) to keep the thread ticking over.

Love that shooter photo were he is launching the plane.
And also the people shots....
Thanks for sharing hope to make some good ones in a couple of weeks when attending the Alliance airshow and maybe a F35 at NASJRBFW or the former Carswell AFB..

Great set Kev,

I'm assuming given the amount of C model Hornets that this is a slightly older set of photos.

Jim, Bryan, and any others who knew Glenn, my condolences and sorry to hear of this tragic loss. It is unfortunately the not so nice side of the sport we love. Very sad. When this thread first caught my attention years ago, I made a point to read the original thread and I know there were many posts and stories from Jim on his times with Glenn. Hopefully those happy memories will provide some comfort during these times.

Thanks for the kind words on my shots, it's very much appreciated. I'm constantly knocked out by the quality of images and words on every page of MATA2 and by the obvious warmth of the people who post here regularly, shown yet again by the outpouring of sympathy towards Jim and everyone who knew Glenn, to Laura for her loss and even towards friends of friends who just pass on a story. As Jim has said on more than one occasion this is a very special corner of the web.

Mark, you're correct, this was from July '06 when the Tomcat flew from the TR for the final time. Suppose I'd better post up a few shots of the old girl as well!

(This first one is from my January '06 embark in the Persian Gulf, during the last combat cruise. Note the Litening targeting pod and the "Bombcat" load of a JDAM and a GBU-12 for a patrol over Iraq.)

(Supersonic flyby)

Cheers,

Kev

I need to send an all-hands email to everyone who considers themselves a part of this group. If you don't regularly correspond with me, or even if you do, would you please just send me a one-liner email to rodolfo at vivaluz dot net so I can have your email address? Right this minute, or as soon as possible, please.

No need for alarm, I just have a project that needs to be completed in a very short time and I could use a lot of help. You're going to like it, I think. Thanks for listening.

Jane Wicker put on a great show wing walking. I can see why a number of people here don't like to use a polarizer at shows. I used one today, and getting consistent sky colors in post is going to drive me nuts.

Thank you my friends, thank you more than you could know. Your thoughts and prayers are about all that is keeping me vertical at the moment. Much to do, many people to shore up. Glenn's family asked me to do an interview today, reluctantly I did. I was able to hold it together and they did a good job. Everywhere I turn, Glenn is there and will be for a long long time. After a long day of shuffling family, making arrangements, holding and praying with people, I went to our hangars, lit them up cleaned Glenn's (I know, crazy but I needed to) talked with him as if he was beside me again, wept, laughed, prayed, wept some more. I loved Glenn deeply, am thankful for the time God gave us, and His purpose in that time.

The moon rose this evening into a calm and beautiful dusk sky. Just the conditions that would have found Glenn and me in our Cubs tracing the lakeshore route in tight formation like we've done a hundred times, then returning to sit on the ramp at HQ and talk about everything from the wonder of flight and how blessed we are, to God's Grace and Salvation. So much has been made clear to me since 2:06 Saturday that I can't begin to tell you at this juncture, but I will in time.

Thank you for shoring me up. Bryan, my good friend, as always thank you for having my Six. Be back to you all soon.

When I shot and titled this, I had no idea how prophetic it would one day become..............

Glad to see you coming up for air, Shooter, and retreating into your mind and your MATA for a bit of rest. "Many people to shore up" indeed, so don't drain all of your energy and get yourself into a bad place. Lean on others like us yourself, too.

Beautiful shot there. I was just saying this morning that you think and speak in images.
