canerino; Surreal is what I would call that image! So that's what an 85L looks like wide open on a 5D! Its not just the background blurr and the way it isolated the subject that makes the image look so surreal, its the street. Did it just get through raining?
Keith;
That's a great shot. I love her expression.
I'm going the candid approach as well... This was take in South haven MI, I was on the south pier and they were on the North, I just like the feel of this image mostly

you nailed it mark...just after a rainfall with soft beautiful afternoon light filtered through soft clouds at my back...thanks for the kind words!
Well this was one of my favorites this year of my step-daughter when she was pregnant. My first time attempting maternity portraits. Just did this at home with a lamp. She loved them.
man this is a hard thing to do....some great shots here btw.
There are two photos that I had to choose from....one I would call my favorite....and one I would call my best. However, it seems as though people are putting their favorite. So here is mine....I know it isn't technically perfect by any means....it just captures so much life in it which is what I love out of photos. Taken at an orphanage called Casa Hogar in Mexico.
Guys, thanks for posting your pics ! I can see we have some pretty amazing shots here, I already have my own favorites
I guess we can wait for more people to post, at least until january, then I'll ask anyone who has posted here to pic his favorite picture in the topic and make a comment about it !
By the way I have a special comment to make to canerino : thanks to one friend advice and your pic, the very one you posted here, that I saw this summer on dpreview, I've bought a 85 II and felt in love with it ! It is now glue to my camera and will only move when I'll get the 5D succesor
and by the way, my "best of" this year has been shot with my 85 so ... thanks again
