Hi Frank,

Great idea. Some people clearly go over the top and this house is a good example. I find the deflated Santa on the right as well as the blurry lights on the right a bit distracting. I am not sure how to fix it, but you might be able to crop out the garage and it might work better. Just a thought. Good luck this week,

So true and universal ! Excessiveness is a mankind thing I guess.
I would have prefered the shot less exposed to make the lights stand out more and detach better from the house.

That's better to me even if some lights are still strongly overexposed (especially in the foreground). You should try some shots metering for them next time.

Julien--I shot this in raw, so I could lessen the exposure, but the lights get too muted for my taste. Thanks, though, for taking another look and for your help.--Frank

Perfect idea and a great shot! My kids gripe that we don't partcipate in this tradition, so I can't wait to show them that this was shot for the "obsession" theme, so they know we are not the only Scrooge-types out there
