pixelpics Offline Image Upload: Off p.1 #1 · Motorcycle posters this is my first time ever doing anything like this. I saw someone do one of these poster like images and thought I would give it a try. I would like some feedback from some of the experts here. I shoot mainly black and white photography and use photoshop to make adjustments such as dodge, burn, etc. I have never really done anything that was digital art?? So please have a look and give me your comments and suggestions. I used the extract tool to extract the images. Is there a faster and more accurate way to do this? Please let me have it. I need help and suggestion on how to do this kind of stuff. My goal is to get fairly decent at this and sell some at the local car and bike shows as posters. gheller Offline Buy and Sell: On p.1 #3 · Motorcycle posters this is better than i could do, but here is what I noticed 1) the angles of the cycles is really weird. kinda uncomfortable if you know what i mean 2) completely lose the font and drop shadow...looks silly 3) some really obvious cut-outs. a good cut out is not obvious 4) background "gradient" looks amateur-ish. After messing with these three, I now know it is better if I shoot the bikes from the side and get the whole bike in the picture. These were shots that I already had on my computer and just tried it out with. Im working on getting new fonts. Photoshop CS in limited so I definitely need more fonts. Most likely I will put club names, vehicle make and model etc. What ever the customer request. I am trying to learn how to extract images better so they do not look so obvious. I just learned how to use the extract tool so the most recent ones I did look better. Hopefully I can get this technique down so it does not look so obvious. the gradient is straight out of photoshop. i agree it does not look as smooth as I would like it. Art B Offline Image Upload: On p.1 #6 · Motorcycle posters pixelpics, As you can tell from your feedback (including mine) this sort of thing can be highly subjective. I actually like your mirror and gradient treatment; the font treatment is quite whimsical, but for me, not at all unpleasent. Your extractions are pretty good, but you might consider "feathering" some areas a pixel or two... one area that I feel would benefit from a softer edge would be the tires. About the bike viewing angles - perhaps you should try shooting the shots from a lower point of view - say something down, at least as low as the seats. Also, imho you should be sure to not cut off any portion of the machine, as has happened with a couple of the tires. Something else you might try is projecting a soft shadow from your cutouts (bikes) onto the background. Good luck with this. It looks like a good beginning to your project. Tbear Offline Image Upload: On p.1 #8 · Motorcycle posters One thing I noticed is that you cut the tires off with the edge of the photo a no no. The front tires are pointing away from the viewer, where they should be towards the viewer as if presenting itself to the viewer. I agree withe strange angle and the lettering. I think your reflections are off in each one. If you are taking the photos yourself you might want to try a wet surface to get a real reflection or a piece of plexiglass. For really great FREE fonts, go to dafonts.com If you wanna see some great examples, I'd PM davinci and ask if he has a few samples of his car and motorcycle posters posted anywhere. (Cuz all his old threads are gone from FM forums). You can also check my website for some examples of poster backgrounds, mine are car posters but that shouldn't matter.
