I haven't taken many photos lately because I am trying to build a website for myself. Its a pity because the crops are beautiful at the moment; Relentless of near no rain this year they have grown quite well. I shot through a fence and used the on camera flash to light up the foreground grain. The D200 is so incredibly fast and simple to change settings with it constantly reminds me why I bought it.
I like the sun and the colors and the texture of the wheat.
I don't like that you have framed off the top of the tree. This picture might be better if you left the tree out or found a tree further so it fit the frame.
I liked the non-pp'd photo a bit better. The sun looks a bit over-exposed. It's an excellent photograph, but I do agree with Scott with regard to the framing of the tree.
Nice picture.Nice mood.I think Paul is on the right track. If you look at your histogram the pic is underexposed(maybe on purpose) Here is my attempt at it.

I wont deny that I am not the worlds most brilliant post processor; I do agree it could use a little help, there is a lot more detail in the grain on yours Paul and Jim.
I do have photoshop but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, I find it very difficult to select the areas I want to edit and do it smoothly so it doesn't show.
As for the framing of the tree I might go back out and try it again, I couldn't really work it all in last time because I was a little pushed for time (As you can see the sun is very close to the horizon). Heres another I took. I am a bit disappointed with the level of noise, the camera was only on ISO320. Its not the greatest photo but I like it.
I grabbed another one a little later just as a record shot to remind me to go back, but I liked the result to. It is perhaps a little empty but you get to see the nice colors, I would like to try it when the moon is nice and big and coming over the hill.
Your 2nd last post if very nice. I would like to see it larger. Nicely framed with nice features and elements balanced horizontally as well as vertically.
The last post is a good idea but has too much empty space between top and bottom. I think a bit more bottom and something in the foreground (like a tree) would make it work.
