I see posts now and then about needing insurance or how much coverage. We know that many venues require $1,000,000 and sometimes more depending on the nature of the shoot. Get at least that much!
I noted in a thread not too long back that my mother had a trip and fall accident. While insurances will cover it, the bills/statements have started coming in. Now she is an older person and she did suffer some head injuries that perhaps a younger person might have avoided through luck or reflexes. She'll be fine, although still getting some therapy for her arm. Hospital bills alone (under two days Critical Care Unit, 5 days Surgical/Trauma room) are $63,000. That's before the individual doctors, specialists and other services get tacked on although this probably includes various x-rays, CT scans, etc.. I'm expecting she'll have bills approaching or passing $100,000. For a one person trip and fall. (Paramedics report was that people reported seeing her stumble crossing a street.)
So if/when the question comes up about insurance? Get it! Get a lot! Get more!
