Great thread of trains and some awesome scenery as well. Might be boring, but just 2 here. First, this older engine taken trackside, at the Hoboken, NJ terminal.

This other is through the passenger car window, (MainLIne) heading west from Hoboken- a rarely seen freight train on adjoining tracks.

Enjoy and keep posting-

Best,

Alan

I hope you guys don't mind me joining in, I am not a train regular:

Commuter Express. I was expecting this one to stop at the station I was photographing. It didn't...

Hey, I live in Southern California. Not so many cool trains ( real ones anyway )

In very dark train museum where tripods not allowed, sorry...

Same museum, less Diet Coke induced shake:

From Bodie, there were a bunch of steam engine parts. Not sure if this is from a mining locomotive, pump, or what.

Thanks for viewing. Comments or criticism greatfully accepted.

Very cool thread! I don't shoot many train shots at all, but every now and then I grab one. Here's a grab shot from earlier in the year while waiting for the Metra in Chicago to go to the Auto Show...

p.3 #9 · Re: Not enough train pics...

One year, a traveling ballet troupe decided to perform Swan Lake. It spent months rehearsing. Two days before hitting the road, it held a dress rehearsal. Unfortunately, moths had gotten into the tutus. They were destroyed. And there was no place in town to buy new ones. So the producer called around to neighboring cities. Eventually, a shop promised to deliver tutus by train the next day. The producer went to the train station to await delivery. The stationmaster noticed him and asked if he needed help. “No,” he replied. “I’m just waiting for the tutu train.”

Keep smilin'!!

Wanting to stay coupled to this thread here is another one of mine. This is my very favorite inanimate object, Uncle Pete's FEF-III #8444, now renumbered to 844.

Wow,

Get you guys wound up a little bit and look what happens. Some really neat train pics showing up.

Here's one that shows what happens when things go wrong. Taken late October 2004 a few miles west of Hope B.C. on the CN main line.

Here is the Heisler on the Port of Tillamook Bay Railroad. It runs north from Garibaldi, Oregon about 10 or 15 miles to Rockaway Beach. Fun trip!

Nuts and Bolts of Railroading...

Not exactly a train pic but certainly a fundamental part. Found several big bins of these where crews had been tearing up a portion of an abandoned rail line.

The Durango and Silverton's Silver Vista Class car. The original was caught in a shop fire, the D&S crew built the new Silver Vista in 2006 using plans from the original, it provides great views of the beautiful scenery.
