So i removed my safe and cutsie dear for a first time effort at a set piece. This is now well out of my comfort zone as i rarely use flash or any lighting, except natural. The idea has to be attributed to Adam Woodyatt (who has been rather busy at work) but the rest of it is down to me. Just had time tonight to get 6 shots in before my 9 year old Conor went to bed, this was the best.
Please feel free to critiscise as i say im well out of my depth here !!!
Take care
Mark

Hi Mark,

I like this shot a lot. You might want to clone out the ears poking out in the bottom and if you include a little more from the bottom I think I would prefer the shot more with the deer positioned at the top third. Just a thought, but a wonderful shot, nonetheless.

Thanks Bob and Steve.
I removed the ears as suggested. This was a full frame shot so i couldnt reposition. Many thanks though.

Nice shot Mark.
I’d like to know what he’s telling her, because she’s mesmerized by his sweet words, this is a great display of bilateral attraction at its best!

Marc,

I was hoping to see a "static" entry, truly brilliant, thanks!

I LOVE this shot. Don't be surprised if you find it floating around the web at some point. You could call this one, "Brainstorm" and perhaps even fill in the blanks with words or even photos of just about ANYTHING in the balloon.

The possibilities are endless. This is the kind of shot that anyone would smile at. Thanks for posting it!

One other thing: on first glance I thought, "Oh, too bad the top of the balloon is missing from the shot." I'm not sure whether this actually affects the image or not (I suspect not), but will be interested to know what others think.

I like this entry much better than your first one. Very clever.
I like the light on his hair.
I think, like Willa, that the whole balloon should be in the shot - but this is still great!

Thanks for your kind words all.
I think you are all right if i had more time i would have devised a way of getting the whole balloon in. I would have also liked to get a little more modelling on his face. I was in fact holding the balloon in one hand and firing a remote with the other and hoping he was in focus!!! It was great fun, which at the end of the day cant be bad.
Take care

Mark,

Well done. Absolutely fits the WA. Great color and lighting and the capture of the facial expression is great!

Hi Mark! I like it even without the whole balloon! What a neat idea, and your model is a doll! Love the reflection of the balloon color on his hair, and his expression is priceless. Great job!!
